The Other Sister Movie Review!!!
Why not start off with reviewing one of my all time favorite movies!! THE OTHER SISTER!!!!
I remember watching this movie for the first time. It was airing on TNT. I had just watched ER! (That was when TNT would air ER and LAW AND ORDER SVU and PROVIDENCE every morning). On the bottom of the TV screen, it had *Coming up next: The other sister*. I had never even heard of it, but I had seen it had Diane Keaton in it! Who doesn't love Diane Keaton?? So, I decided to watch it.. And man oh man!!!!! I was obsessed! I was only 11 years old, but that movie spoke to me! The following day, I got my VHS out and I recorded it! (Who remembers doing that?) Now, Lets get on to what the movie is actually about. But first, can I just point out that this is a Garry Marshall Film???
This movie captured my heart! I really hope it does/did the same for you! I always feel so happy after watching this movie, thinking I can accomplish anything! Seriously!! It's def a feel good movie!!!

The Other Sister movie is about a young girl named Carla, Who is portrayed by the very own Juliette Lewis. Carla was different, slower, but not dumb! When she was younger she would have outbursts and her parents just didn't know how to handle such an adventurous difficult child. SO, they sent her away, to a home for children with needs just like Carla's. Well, A few years passed and Carla is 21 years old. Doctor Johnson, her behavioral specialist believes it is time for her to return back home and try and live a normal life. So, her father Radley Tate comes and picks her up! At first, Carla doesn't look like she is that comfortable, but I mean would you? She was gone for 10 years!!!!!! With Limited visitations from her family!! As Carla is home, her family can tell she is not the same little girl they sent away. She is stronger and determined. She wants to live a happy life. She wants to become a veterinarian assistant, she wants to go to school! Of course, her over protective mother, Elizabeth says no at first, but when Carla runs away back to the institution she was sent away to in the first place, her parents are convinced that they will give you a chance.
Carla becomes a student at polytechnic school, which is a vocational high school/college! She begins to adjust very well, when she meets Daniel McMahon, a marching band obsessed student with the same problems as Carla. . As their friendship starts to blossom, she learns that he actually lives on his own! She says "I could never do that", but Daniel Reassures her that she can do anything she sets her mind too!
At her 22nd birthday, Her mother mentions that someday, she will be able to take care of their extravagant home without her one day, and Carla slyly mentions that one day she hopes to have her own apartment. Her mother inadvertently says no! Carla upset with this decision runs away from her birthday cake. Carla's sisters, Heather and Caroline try to convince Elizabeth, their mother, that maybe Carla is ready to live on their own! All of a sudden, Their Father Radley, in a madness rage, starts yelling at Elizabeth. They eventually calm down, and peacefully discuss the potential of Carla living on her own. Carla is BEYOND THRILLED !! It's the best birthday present ever!!!
Well, As time goes on, Daniel and Carla's friendship blossoms into a relationship! Daniel asks Carla to be his girlfriend, and she agrees. As Halloween approaches, its time for their school's Halloween party! Carla asks her mother if she will do make up on her, and she says of course not, but she does agree to teach her how to dance!! For me, that scene really touched my heart! In that particular scene, you can really tell that she loves her daughter and she just wants her to be happy!! As Carla walks down the stairs in her swan costume, she mentions that she can't leave yet, because her boyfriend is coming to pick her up! Her mother is very concerned by this information, But, when they meet Daniel, the are easily sedated by the fact that he has problems just like Carla!
At the Halloween party, Carla wants to see her first semester grades and she delighted to find out that she passed her regular classes in a regular school!! Sadly, Daniel finds out he failed! He is very upset and Carla comforts him and the share their first kiss! :). After that, they are inseparable!!
It's November now, and it's Carla's first night in her new apartment! Daniel and Carla take turns going back and forth to each other's apartment. They soon start to get more intimate feelings for each other! Daniel then tells Carla that he loves her. This was a very heart happy scene! Carla explains that no one has ever said that to her before and she loves him too.
Carla and Daniel Begin looking at the book "The joy of sex" and Daniel says he is ready to have sex now. Carla decides shes not ready yet, and wants to wait for thanksgiving! Thanksgiving is here, and it's the big day! Carla starts to have doubts too, but Daniel reassures her that he would never hurt her, because he loves her so much. Their sex scene is a really magical scene!!
Now, it's December and it's time for their family Christmas party!! Daniel explains to Carla that he is afraid of her family. She tells him, he doesn't have to be scared that as long as he's brave, nothing bad will happen. So, mistaking the advise, Daniel goes and gets drunk while going back and forth to the open bar!! While Jeff and Caroline are dancing to their favorite song, "Baby you're mine", Daniel stubble on the stage and grabs the microwave. He begins to say how much he loves Carla and the he has to move to his moms house! He doesn't want to leave without Carla, and invites her to come along with him. Her mother slams her drink down, and Carla is smiling from ear to ear! Then Daniel Calmly explains how much they love each other, by telling the entire room that they had sex on thanksgiving!! Everyone starts laughing and Carla can't stand when people laugh at her! She stands up and starts screaming and is so mad at Daniel. They escort Carla outside and she is put in the Limo crying! Elizabeth and Radley go back inside to see if they can find the limo driver, when Daniel comes outside to apologize to Carla. She is beyond furious with Daniel for making everyone laugh at her! She says she hates him, and she never wants to see him again.
The next few scenes show how different their lives are now that they are no longer together. As Daniel gets ready to move away, you can tell he is very apprehensive about leaving Carla. As he boards the train, he starts to think about Carla, and leaves the train! He wants to exchange his ticket, but unfortunately he leaves his ticket aboard. Forced to walk home, he hitchhikes with a few people to get back to San Francisco!
It's the day of Carla's sister, Caroline's wedding! As the wedding is going on, someone starts throwing marshmallows at the bridesmaids. Everyone doesn't understand whats going on.. til Daniel yells for Carla! Carla is beyond excited to see him! He falls from the balcony, and Carla hugs him! Daniel then asks him to marry him! She Agrees!!! Following the wedding, everyone is at the reception. Carla goes up to her mom and asks her if it's time to plan another wedding! Elizabeth, calmly explains to Carla that she is too young to get married and she won't be getting married! Carla gets upset and runs away! Elizabeth chases her outside, Carla explains that she can't do a lot of things, but she can Love, and she loves Daniel Very much! She decides that she is going to plan the wedding without the help of her mother!
It's Carla's wedding day, February 14th, and everyone is getting ready to go! Radley asks Elizabeth one more time, if she is going and she says no. Cut to the church, and Carla is walking down the Aisle. Their Vows to each other are the sweetest thing ever!! As they have their first kiss at married couple, they begin to walk down the Aisle hand in hand together, when Carla sees her mother walking in the doors! She hugs her and her mother tells her she loves her!!
As everyone is walking outside, Daniel says to wait, because he has a surprise for Carla. All of a sudden, we hear drums! Daniel organized a marching band salute for his bride! Carla kisses him and they ride off in the sunset!!
* I left a lot of information out, so you can still watch the movie without rambling on about for an hour! ;). I hope you enjoy the movie as much as I do!!!*

Well, Here we go Folks!
My first blog post on my NEW blog! I used to have another blog, but I could never figure out anything to talk about! I had been thinking about for a few years on what I could discuss. When I had my old blog, I loved it! I really did!!! But, I didn't know what I could talk about, that would make ME interested! Then it hit me!
